International Diversity Prize Goes to Henkel CEE

Henkel CEE won the “European Diversity Leadership Honour” prize in the category “Multicultural Working Environment”. The award was given at the World Diversity Leadership Summit Europe (WDLS-EU, see www.wdls.eu), which took place in Vienna for the second time. “The prize is in recognition of proven strategies and forward-looking initiatives designed by companies and organizations to promote diversity”, says conference organizer Beatrice Achaleke. Henkel CEE serves as the headquarters for business operations in 32 countries in Central and Eastern Europe as well as Central Asia and the Caucasus. Employees from 43 nations work for the company. 38 percent of the management positions are held by women. Since 2002, the company has bundled its professional training and further education activities in its own “Henkel CEE Academy”. The 250 training courses annually involving some 2,000 participants are held in 17 languages.

“Diversity is an important aspect of Henkel’s corporate culture. The different talents and skills of our employees reflect the broad spectrum of markets and customers we serve. Thus diversity is a strength which helps us to understand the business better and to be successful on a long-term basis”, states Dr. Zuzana Halkova, Head of Human Resources at Henkel CEE.
Henkel’s corporate vision, to be a global leader with brands and technologies, implies the necessity of having a multicultural management approach. A “Code of Conduct” and a “Code of Teamwork & Leadership” prepare managers to work in different cultural environments. Moreover, special training in “Diversity and Multicultural Management” is offered within the framework of the Henkel CEE Academy. Each year about 180 employees at Henkel CEE are working outside of their native country as part of a job rotation program.
