Venice will host the 53rd International Art Exhibition between June 7, 2009 and November 22, 2009. Miha Štrukelj, winner of the Henkel Art.Award.2008, will present his works at the Slovenian pavilion of the Venice Biennale. The theme of the central exhibition at the Biennale is Making Worlds (Fare Mondi).
The opening of the Slovenian pavilion (Galerija A+A) at this year’s 53rd International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale will take place on Friday, June 5th, at 7 p.m. At the pavilion, the Henkel Art.Award.2008 winner Miha Štrukelj will introduce himself to art enthusiasts and present his project. His integral artwork is based on four levels of presentation: pictures, wall drawing, drawing and lego drawing. The exhibition will epitomize the concept of Štrukelj’s drawing process that is based on the deconstruction of picture surfaces with a grid as a structural-conceptual foundation, within which the picture decomposes itself and is newly constructed as a form of disenchanted subjective point of view.
”Just a few days before the opening, I still could not fully imagine what this exhibition would actually mean for me. What I find most interesting is that I get to see things somewhat differently, from my own perspective. Up until now, I have only attended the Biennale or went to see what a friend and artist invited to the Biennale showed there,” said Miha Štrukelj during the preparations for the Venice Biennale.
In this year’s autumn, Štrukelj’s works of art will be on display in Ljubljana as well. As a winner of the Henkel Art.Award.2008, the artist will put his award-winning works of art on display at the Mestna galerija in Ljubljana, in cooperation with Henkel Slovenija.
