Henkel CEE Celebrates Young Musicians from Eastern Europe

At a concert held in the ORF Radio Cultural Center (“ORF Radiokulturhaus“), the prize winners of this year’s International Summer Academy Prague-Vienna-Budapest were celebrated. Since 2002, Henkel Central Eastern Europe (Henkel CEE) has been promoting and providing assistance to participating musicians from the Eastern European region by contributing scholarships totaling EUR 10,000. The Henkel Art.Award. initiated by Henkel, which will be bestowed on the award winners in the former imperial stables at the Museum of Art (MUMOK) in Vienna on November 25, 2009, demonstrates how important the support of young artists from Eastern Europe is to Henkel.

Each year, some 300 young artists from more than 40 nations come together to attend top-class master classes at the International Summer Academy Prague-Vienna-Budapest. The participants present the results of this intensive work within the context of a music festival.  The best among them were honored at a concert given by the award-winning musicians on August 21, 2009, under the patronage of Henkel.

“Henkel Central Eastern Europe has been operating very successfully in Central and Eastern Europe for 20 years now. We consider ourselves to be a partner in these countries, whose business operations are coordinated by Henkel CEE in Vienna. Our cultural sponsoring projects are designed to demonstrate this,” said Sabine Schauer, Corporate Communications Manager for CEE & Europe, Middle East & Africa, emphasizing Henkel’s commitment in her introductory remarks. The 17 young musicians offered a broad repertoire of musical entertainment on this evening, including works from Beethoven, Hummel, Chopin, Haydn and many others. The time-honored large studio located in the ORF Radio Cultural Center provided a suitable backdrop for this diversified concert experience.

For its part, Henkel CEE announced its Henkel Art.Award., the only comprehensive art promotion prize for the Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia, for the eighth year. The award, bestowed to the sum of EUR 7,000, targets fine artists in 31 countries. This year, a new aspect of the Henkel Art.Award. is the expanded cooperation with the Museum of Modern Art Ludwig Foundation Vienna (MUMOK). The gala awards ceremony will take place on November 25, 2009 in the former imperial stables of MUMOK.
