Henkel to invest in new production in Hungary

Henkel plans to strengthen its production activities in Central and Eastern Europe by investing into a new site in Tatabánya, Hungary. The new site is expected to commence operations by 2012.

To seize further growth opportunities in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) Henkel plans to build up a new production facility and a logistic center for its adhesives activities in Tatabánya, Hungary. The new site will play an important role in Henkel’s production network as it will serve its adhesives activities as a platform for growth in the Central and Eastern Europe region.

Henkel plans to invest 14.7 million Euros into the construction of the new facility which is expected to become fully operational by 2012 and will offer 80 job opportunities. “This is a clear commitment to the CEE region and significantly strengthening the position of our adhesives business in this growing market,” comments Günter Thumser, President Henkel Central Eastern Europe.

To further support its investment, Henkel also plans to shift production activities from other sites to Tatabánya. “With this increase in capacity we can ensure supply our business partners on highest level. And we are following our electronics customers who more and more shift their activities to Eastern Europe,” explains Hermann Deitzer, Corporate Vice President and member of the management board of Henkel Central Eastern Europe responsible for the adhesives business in this region.

Henkel Central Eastern Europe (Henkel CEE) with its headquarters in Vienna coordinates the company's business operations in 32 countries throughout Central and Eastern Europe as well as in Central Asia. Henkel CEE is a top provider of detergents, cleaners and cosmetics products. It is also market leader for hair cosmetics and adhesives as well as in the surface treatment segment. In fiscal 2009, Henkel CEE employed a work force of about 9,500 people, posting revenues of 2,230 million euros. Henkel products have been available in Austria for more than 120 years. The company has been manufacturing at its business location in Vienna since 1927.
