Social Partnerships – Corporate and Brand Engagement

Strong brands and innovative technologies are our core business. Henkel promotes social projects in so-called Social Partnerships, especially in the vicinity of Henkel locations worldwide, e.g. sports clubs, hospitals and universities, kindergartens and schools, charity organizations, women's shelters, cultural events and many more. Henkel strives to be a “good citizen and neighbor” in the regions where the company is located. Therefore the company does a lot for local organizations, initiatives and projects.

Social Partnerships – Corporate and Brand Engagement

Through the independent "Henkel Friendship Initiative" the company supports long-term projects from all five areas of engagement: social needs, education and science, fitness and health, arts and culture, and the environment. Aside from the financial resources provided by Henkel, monies are also collected and donated by Henkel employees, business partners and shareholders in support of the work of the HFI.

Example of brand engagement: Children are our future! Project Futurino

Persil Project Futurino

A good example of our brand engagement is the "Project Futurino”, which Persil has been running since 2007. This project improves opportunities for development and education for children and young people. The focus of “Project Futurino” is on projects which enable children to learn more about nature and to acquire a better awareness of the environment while at the same time experiencing its fascination. The first “Futurino Project” initiative was launched in 2007 to mark the Persil centennial.

Since the start of the initiative Persil has sponsored 450 educational projects with a total funding of 2 million euro. More than 110,000 children in Germany have so far benefited from Project Futurino.

Example of corporate engagement: Henkel China sponsors 133 orphans

Social Partnerships – Corporate and Brand Engagement

To mark the 133rd anniversary of the founding of the company on September 26, 1876, Henkel China initiated a very special project. It decided to sponsor 133 orphans from the rural district of Donghai (Jiangsu Province) for one year. The financial aid fully covers their living and educational expenses. All 133 orphans, who are aged between 7 and 13, live with grandparents or other relatives struggling on low incomes.

Example of corporate engagement: the Hugo Henkel Award

The Hugo Henkel Award

The importance and benefits of science and technology are unquestionable. We must reinforce their position in society and particularly in schools by motivating more children and young people with enthusiasm for science.

Every second year Henkel in Düsseldorf, Germany, presents the Hugo Henkel Award. This award honors school-based concepts that aim to promote the teaching of science and technology in the Düsseldorf region as well as other Henkel locations in Germany.
